About The Position

MTC operates the Edison Job Corps Center in Edison, NJ, providing quality services to local youth. The Instructor, Academic ESL is responsible for providing academic instruction to students in accordance with approved curricula. This role involves giving basic direction to students, ensuring compliance with government and management directives. The instructor will also motivate and counsel students, develop and prepare lessons, and relate academic skills to career technical training and workplace requirements. Additionally, the position requires reviewing and auditing assigned areas for contractual compliance and effectiveness of service delivery, and preparing related reports.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree
Valid teaching certificate for ELL
experience with youth
communication/computer proficiency

Nice To Haves

One (1) year instructional experience preferred.
A Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record is also appreciated.

Responsibilities

Provide students with basic direction, instruction and assistance in designated area(s) of instruction.
Motivate and counsel students in areas of behavior, training, personal problems or study habits; coordinate with other staff as necessary to resolve issues affecting student training.
Develop and prepare lessons; recommend curricula changes and supplemental materials.
Utilize workplace language and behavior expectations in the classroom; on a routine basis, relate academic skills to career technical training and workplace requirements; inquire if individual students need assistance.
Review and audit all assigned areas regularly for contractual compliance and effectiveness of delivery of services to students. Prepare related reports.
