This position is responsible for providing effective instruction for assigned courses. The instructor will guide the class in an efficient and effective manner, maintain accurate records of student work and attendance, prepare thoroughly for each instructional hour, and ensure a safe and orderly learning environment. Responsibilities also include grading and returning student work in a timely manner, counseling students regarding their grades and progress, constructing classroom materials that support the goals of the course, designing curriculum and a schedule of instruction, and maintaining regular office hours. The instructor is expected to stay abreast of the most current teaching methods and technology in the classroom, use assessment techniques to improve student learning outcomes and teaching methods, serve on college or department committees as needed, attend professional development opportunities, assist with establishing goals and objectives for the course, select text and construct a syllabus, maintain communication with instructors from other divisions, participate in graduation exercises, and promote continuous improvement by completing an annual applied benchmark project.
