About The Position

The Instructional Technology Manager II at the University of Arizona provides strategic and operational support for enterprise instructional technologies, focusing on the pedagogical use of these tools and basic technical support. This role is situated within the university's teaching and learning center, UCATT, and impacts every student and instructor on campus. The position requires on-campus work at least three days a week and involves leading a team, collaborating with various departments, and promoting effective use of instructional technology in teaching and learning.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of related work experience, including 2 years of managerial experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree or higher in instructional technology, higher education, or related field.
  • Experience as an instructor or assisting instructors in achieving their instructional goals using technology at any level (PK-20).
  • Leadership experience in instructional support in higher education.
  • 3 years of experience in providing enterprise services.
  • Experience developing strategic plans and roadmaps for the adoption and optimization of educational technologies.
  • Expertise in implementing and supporting learning management systems or similar enterprise platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the instructional technology team, overseeing the learning management system and other teaching tools used across the university.
  • Create plans for effectively using technology in teaching, including introducing new tools and updating existing ones.
  • Work closely with different university departments to ensure they have the right access to and support for teaching technologies.
  • Analyze how teaching technologies are being used and make improvements based on this information.
  • Develop guidelines for using teaching technologies and manage projects to implement them effectively.
  • Develop and communicate outreach and support strategies to stakeholders across campus.
  • Provide instructional technology and pedagogical expertise in campus-wide discussions on teaching and learning with technologies.
  • Partner with college administrators and other leaders to execute organizational mission and strategy.
  • Collaborate with University Information Technology Services to achieve shared goals.
  • Lead outreach initiatives with academic units to promote effective use of instructional technology in teaching and learning.
  • Guide the instructional technology team to create and coordinate training and professional development opportunities for instructors, staff, and students on instructional technology tools and resources.
  • Provide consultations to instructors on integrating technology into their teaching practices as needed.
  • Oversee explorations of developing instructional technologies through pilot projects and exploratory research.
  • Develop and implement strategies for technology integration in teaching and curriculum, life-cycle management of instructional technologies, and training and implementation for new technologies.
  • Direct assessment efforts around new technologies to inform adoption and support decisions.
