The Office of Teaching, Learning & Technology (OTLT), a campus-wide provider of technology and pedagogy support for faculty and instructors at the University of Iowa, is seeking a specified-term Instructional Technology Consultant, focused on Enterprise Instructional Technologies. This position has a project assignment of two years and is classified as a "specified term appointment" as an IT Support Consultant (PIC2), with full fringe benefits. This position provides service management and third-tier support for multiple instructional technologies, including the learning management system, lecture capture, student response systems, wiki service, plagiarism detection, evaluation and examination services, and other instructional services. Serves as a member of a high-performing team that values critical thinking, quality user support, communication, accountability, and collaboration with customers and peers. May also lead training sessions or other outreach and engagement efforts with collegiate instructional staff and campus partners. The person in this position functions under the direction of the IT Manager in the Enterprise Instructional Technology (EIT) group. In a typical work week, responsibilities may include: Solving problems for instructors, students, and staff using instructional technology. Participating in meetings about projects or services, developing timelines for changes, prioritizing tasks and user needs, and communicating service changes to campus partners. Exploring, testing, and implementing new features, integrations, and configuration changes to services and emerging technology being piloted. Meeting with software vendors to discuss future improvements to vended products, to share concerns the university has about frequent pain-points, and to follow up on support tickets opened with the vendor's support group. Collaborating with campus partners and other groups on developing and scaling the use of instructional services across the university. This position does not involve programming, server support, instructional design, or hardware repair. Some 24x7 on-call rotation is required. This position is not eligible for University sponsorship for employment authorization. ITS values work life balance and strives to provide flexible work options where possible. This position is eligible for on-site, hybrid, or remote work within the state of Iowa. The successful candidate must be able to travel to Iowa City within approximately 1 hour. This position will require a work arrangement form to be completed upon the start of employment.
