Being a PT Instructional Support Specialist at Devereux has its Advantages You will work with other dedicated professionals who share your passion for helping individuals in need. This position will support teacher's direction by providing assistance with academic, social, and behavioral needs of assigned clients. You will assist in the implementation of a basic educational programming and performing duties as directed by the building administrator or classroom teacher inclusive of individual tutoring or one-on-one support for a student with special needs. Hours: Up to 32 hours per week Schedule: Flexible hours during the time the children are in the school Every day as a PT Instructional Support Specialist you will: Assist in establishing classroom environments that is conducive to maximum learning by maintaining structure and guiding students to socially appropriate behaviors Responsible for the children's welfare, safety, and location at all times, including during arrival and dismissal Work with the Special Education Teachers to implement skill acquisition and behavioral reduction programs individually and in small groups Perform ongoing data collection and record keeping as directed by Special Education Teacher Support and reinforce PBIS goals and objectives You will be offered: Pay-rate: $19.50 - $22.23 (based upon experience and education) An Environment that is supportive, educational and clinically focused. A multi-sensory educational strategy is used at all schools, employing traditional instruction, hands-on and independent learning, as well as technology, to individualize a student’s progress in all academic areas, particularly math and reading. The transition from school to career, and all of the necessary interrelated skills, are a main focus of the school program. Children and young adults may come to Devereux as a day student, or as a part of residential treatment. Each student has an Individualized Educational Plan (IEP), which outlines goals for skill development and the best strategies by which the student can reach his/her goals.
Requirements
- EDUCATION: High School Diploma required.
- EXPERIENCE: Previous experience working in a special education or behavioral healthcare setting with students with severe/complex behavioral/emotional issues preferred.
Nice To Haves
- Associates Degree or completion of two years of post-secondary education from an accredited college or university preferred.
