About The Position

The Instructional Student Assistant (ISA) position in the School of Applied Health is a temporary role for the academic year 2025/2026. Under supervision, ISAs perform teaching, grading, and tutoring duties for the majority of their work hours in a given academic department. The work may be performed on-campus or at an off-campus public agency or private non-profit organization under an agreement with a campus in the CSU system. Students applying for ISA positions must be admitted or registered as a CSU student. Academic Student Employees may not concurrently hold a faculty or staff position. Students with assignments in more than one student classification are restricted to working a maximum of 20 hours per week during the academic year and up to full-time during academic break periods.

Requirements

• Must be an enrolled student at Cal Poly Humboldt in a Graduate or Undergraduate stateside program.
• Prior knowledge and experience with grading undergraduate courses.
• Ability to learn and perform assigned work.
• Ability to work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and other students.
• Acceptance of responsibility.

Responsibilities

• Assisting the instructor of record with grading and other duties as assigned for HED 400: Sound Mind-Sound Body course.
• Attending lectures as required.
• Meeting in-person with the instructor as needed to discuss grades/grading.
• Maintaining an online record of student participation.
• Attending and helping proctor the midterm and final exams.
• Grading multiple choice, T/F and fill-in-the-blank portions of exams.
• Grading credit/no-credit assignments.
• Keeping record of participation for in-class discussions/group-work.
• Monitoring and keeping log of online student forum submissions.
