About The Position

The Instructional Student Assistant (ISA) position in the Department of Mathematics at Cal Poly Humboldt is a temporary role for the academic year 2025/2026. Under supervision, ISAs perform teaching, grading, and/or tutoring duties for the majority of their work hours. The work may be conducted on-campus or at an off-campus public agency or private non-profit organization under an agreement with a campus in the CSU system. Students applying for ISA positions must be admitted or registered as a CSU student. Academic Student Employees may not concurrently hold a faculty or staff position. Students with assignments in more than one student classification are restricted to working a maximum of 20 hours per week during the academic year and up to full-time during academic break periods.

Requirements

• Must possess the ability to learn and perform assigned work.
• Ability to work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and other students.
• Completion of specific coursework may be required to teach, grade, or tutor a course.
• Admission or registration as a Humboldt student is required.
• Must meet the eligibility requirements of the Federal Work-Study Program.

Nice To Haves

• Mathematics majors will be given preference.
• Environmental Systems graduate students will be given preference.

Responsibilities

• Provide support in grading or tutoring students for the faculty member responsible for a given course.
• Assist in courses such as MATH 101, 101T, 105, 107, 109, 110, 210; STAT 108 and 109.

Benefits

• Pay Rate: $17.86/hour
