About The Position

The Superintendent of Schools, Dr.Pascal Mubenga, is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for the position of: INSTRUCTIONAL SPECIALIST II – STAFF DEVELOPMENT

Requirements

  • Candidates must hold a Master’s degree and a New York State School District Administrator (SDA) or School District Leader (SDL) or Administrator certificate and a NYSED Teacher Certification.
  • It is required that candidates must attach a PDF or a screen shot of their certifications.
  • Candidates must have a combined minimum of five years of certificated teaching and supervisory experience with a minimum of two (2) years at the supervisory level.
  • Candidates must possess and have demonstrated, strong leadership, organizational and communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Candidates must have experience creating and facilitating professional development.
  • Candidates must have a thorough knowledge of adult learning pedagogy and professional development implementation and evaluation strategies.
  • Candidates must understand the connections between professional development and district goals.
  • Candidate must also have thorough knowledge of NYSED professional development standards and NYSED continuing teacher leader credit regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise division staff
  • Supervise district mentoring program and ensure mentors’ proficiency with district resources and programs
  • Serve as a liaison between the District and NYSED and SCDN
  • Manage Title IIa grant, Teacher Center Grant, Division O&M budget
  • Ensure effective management and monitoring of contracts, requisitions, extra activity, payroll
  • Work in partnership with the District departments and school administrators in development of professional development plans and course offerings
  • Ensure appropriate professional development offerings for staff, including teachers, administrators, substitutes, paraprofessionals
  • Regulate substitute teacher usage to cover professional learning opportunities
  • Manage the course approval process in the Professional Growth System
  • Facilitate and oversee development and execution of online professional learning opportunities
  • Provide technical assistance to school administrators related to professional development
  • Oversee the creation of professional development catalogues and calendars
  • Prepare professional development reporting, audits, and surveys
  • Collect and analyze data to evaluate professional development district wide
  • Facilitate the professional learning team (PLT) and creation and submission of the BPS professional development plan (PDP)
  • Other tasks/duties as determined by the Chief Academic Officer
