About The Position

The position involves providing instruction in residential, commercial, and industrial wiring, as well as the National Electric Code, motors, controls, electronics, automation, and related systems. The instructor will work independently under supervisor guidance to ensure effective teaching methodologies are employed, focusing on student-centered learning. The role also includes maintaining relevant licensure, developing professional development plans, and participating in course and curriculum management within the Continuing Education division.

Requirements

  • Maryland electrical license (journeyperson) and an associate degree in Electrical Systems Technology, or completion of an approved electrical apprenticeship program, or a master electrician's license with a high school diploma/GED.
  • Five (5) years' experience in residential, commercial, or industrial electrical fields.

Nice To Haves

  • Teaching/training experience in commercial/industrial maintenance.
  • Current credentials in commercial/industrial maintenance, contracting, safety, construction, environmental, and controls.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

  • Provide instruction in residential, commercial, and industrial wiring and related subjects.
  • Seek continuous improvement in teaching methodologies and student-centered learning.
  • Maintain relevant licensure and stay current in the Electrical Systems Technology discipline.
  • Develop an individual professional development plan.
  • Participate in developing and managing courses and curricula in Continuing Education.
  • Provide leadership to the assigned Continuing Education division, including supervision of staff and adjunct instructors.
  • Assist in student recruitment and selection.
  • Maintain laboratories, supplies, and equipment.
  • Attend regular meetings as appropriate.
  • Serve as an advocate for the College and its students.
  • Develop and update curriculum that meets industry standards for Electrical Systems Technology.
  • Teach assigned courses using strategies to promote student engagement.
  • Follow established rules and guidelines of Electrical Systems Technology certifying boards and the college.
  • Maintain industry affiliations and develop new affiliations for student placement.
  • Coordinate and monitor processes for compliance and training provider status.
  • Develop cooperative work relationships with other faculty and staff.
  • Perform administrative duties, including instructor mentoring.
