About The Position

The position involves providing instruction in residential, commercial, and industrial wiring, focusing on the National Electric Code, motors, controls, electronics, automation, and related systems. The instructor will work under supervisor guidance but is expected to operate independently in delivering educational content. Responsibilities include maintaining relevant licensure, developing curriculum, and participating in faculty collaboration to enhance the educational offerings in Electrical Systems Technology.

Requirements

  • Maryland electrical license (journeyperson) plus an associate degree in Electrical Systems Technology required.
  • Or Maryland electrical license (journeyperson) plus completion of an approved electrical apprenticeship program required.
  • Or hold a master electrician's license plus a high school diploma/GED required.
  • Five (5) years' experience in residential, commercial, or industrial electrical fields required.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Nice To Haves

  • Teaching/training experience in commercial/industrial maintenance preferred.
  • Current credentials related to commercial/industrial maintenance, contracting, safety, construction, environmental, and controls preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Seek continuous improvement in teaching methodology and student-centered learning.
  • Maintain relevant licensure and remain current in Electrical Systems Technology discipline.
  • Maintain scheduled availability to students.
  • Develop an individual professional development plan.
  • Participate with other faculty in developing, managing courses, and curricula in Continuing Education.
  • Provide leadership to assigned Continuing Education division, including supervision of assigned staff and/or adjunct instructors, and assist in student recruitment and selection.
  • Maintain laboratories, supplies and/or equipment.
  • Remain knowledgeable about the College, its structure, culture, policies, practices, and Electrical Systems Technology.
  • Attend regular meetings, as appropriate.
  • Serve as an advocate for the College and its students, as required.
  • Develop and update curriculum that meets industry standards for Electrical Systems Technology.
  • Teach assigned courses, utilizing strategies and activities to promote student engagement and enhanced student learning at a variety of locations.
  • Follow established rules and guidelines of Electrical Systems Technology certifying boards and the college.
  • Maintain certification, remain current and maintain accreditation in Electrical Systems Technology (including electrical license).
  • Maintain industry affiliations and develop new affiliations for student placement.
  • Coordinate and monitor processes for compliance and training provider status.
  • Develop cooperative work relationships with other faculty and staff.
  • Perform administrative duties that may include instructor mentoring or similar functions.
  • Participate in other administrative duties as required.
