About The Position

The Instructional Paraprofessional School Aide at Hackensack Meridian Health plays a crucial role in supporting the management and supervision of students within a behavioral health setting. This position involves assisting with crisis intervention, implementing behavioral intervention plans, and collecting data related to student progress. The aide is expected to foster positive relationships with students and staff while adhering to the organization's mission and values.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's/Associate's Degree in education, social work, psychology, or related field with a minimum of one year experience working with children in a group setting, or a High School diploma/GED with a minimum of three years experience working with children in a group setting.
  • NJDOE Criminal History Review.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the supervision of students during all aspects of the school day, including arrival, departure, lunchtime, instructional periods, extracurricular activities, and field trips.
  • Implements crisis management plans, including conflict resolution and supervising students during time-out.
  • Assists with the development, implementation, and evaluation of behavioral intervention plans, reporting behavioral observations and reviewing relevant data.
  • Gathers and maintains data related to student behavior, including daily behavior ratings and documentation of incidents.
  • Attends scheduled staff meetings and maintains constructive relationships with staff members.
  • Maintains positive and appropriate relationships with students and seeks assistance when necessary.
  • Performs other duties and projects as assigned.
