About The Position

The position involves providing instructional support to students under the direction of a teacher. The role includes working with individual students or small groups, assisting in preparing instructional materials, and maintaining a neat and orderly classroom. The aide will also help with the administration and scoring of tests, keep administrative records, and provide orientation to substitute teachers. Additionally, the aide will supervise students throughout the school day, including during lunch and on the playground, and participate in staff development training and faculty meetings.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Para Professional Certification or Associate's degree, or two years of study at an institution of higher learning, or have met formal academic assessment as required by the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA).
  • Valid Texas education aide certificate.
  • Ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics.
  • Ability to work well with children.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Some experience working with children.

Responsibilities

  • Provide instruction to students under the direction of the teacher.
  • Work with individual students or small groups.
  • Assist the teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.
  • Assist with administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments.
  • Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom.
  • Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
  • Help the teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports.
  • Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
  • Help supervise students throughout the school day, inside and outside the classroom.
  • Make the teacher aware of special needs or problems of individual students.
  • Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance.
  • Participate in faculty meetings and special events as assigned.
