The Pasco School District No. 1 is seeking an Instructional Paraeducator for the Resource Room at Captain Gray Elementary. This position involves working closely with students to provide support in academic, behavioral, and social-emotional areas. The paraeducator will utilize trauma-informed strategies to build safe and supportive relationships with students, maintain consistent routines, and respond to student needs with empathy. The role requires accurate documentation of student progress and behavior, adherence to established behavior intervention plans, and assistance in delivering teacher-directed instruction. The paraeducator will also be responsible for supervising students during various activities and ensuring a safe learning environment.

  • Use trauma-informed strategies to build safe, supportive relationships and respond to student needs.
  • Accurately collect and document data related to academic progress, behavior, and IEP goals.
  • Follow established behavior intervention plans and apply CPI-approved strategies to de-escalate challenging behaviors.
  • Assist in delivering teacher-directed instruction and reinforcement in academic, behavioral, and social-emotional areas.
  • Administer first aid to provide emergency care.
  • Provide one-on-one instruction or group instruction.
  • Assist classroom teacher and/or building administrator(s) with classroom management.
  • Assist with preparing materials needed to conduct lessons.
  • Provide support or supervision of students during arrival, departure, and other activities.
  • Assist with reporting misconduct on school property and/or school bus route(s).
  • Assist with light cleaning and supervising students during games/activities.
  • Adhere to District safety policies and procedures.
  • Attend and complete annual required training hours for paraeducator certification.
  • Provide support in administering tests and maintaining student records.
  • Translate verbal and/or written information for assisting students and parents (Bilingual only).
  • Assist with needs related to diapering, tube feeding, toileting, and lifting.
  • Participate in District meetings to communicate information and gain feedback.
  • Assist with supervision of students to ensure a safe learning environment.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must meet one or more of the following: Associates degree (AAS, AA) or higher; Earned 72 college quarter credits or 48 semester credits in college level 100 or higher courses; Passing score on the Educational Testing Service (ETS) paraeducator assessment.
  • Valid First aid and/or CPR card for infants and children or willing to obtain.
  • Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) trained or willing to attend training.
  • Bilingual and/or Biliterate (Spanish) preferred.
  • Prior paraeducator experience, college, or on-the-job experience preferred.
  • Experience working with students who are special needs preferred.
  • Prior experience in a K-12 school setting preferred.
  • Salary range of $21.38 - $23.72 per hour.
  • Additional pay for AA and BA degrees.
  • Conditional hiring upon passing a fingerprint screening.
