About The Position

The Instructional Faculty for Pharmacology is a 0.1 FTE position within the Physician Assistant (PA) Program. This faculty member will provide pharmacology expertise across the curriculum and serve as the primary instructor for two pharmacology courses annually delivered during the summer and fall semesters. In addition to teaching, the instructional faculty member will support the integration of pharmacology principles throughout the curriculum, collaborate with course directors and faculty across the program, and contribute to program activities such as admissions and assessment when appropriate. The Instructional Faculty for Pharmacology reports to the Director of Didactic Education and ultimately to the Program Director.

Requirements

Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) required.
Minimum 1 year of clinical experience.
Excellent communication skills with students, faculty, and staff, including the ability to give and receive constructive feedback.
Timely completion of teaching responsibilities, grading, and program deliverables.
Professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality when addressing sensitive student or curricular issues.
Ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse faculty team.
Commitment to integrity, accountability, and high academic standards.
Adaptability, organization, and self-motivation appropriate for part-time remote or on-campus instructional work.

Nice To Haves

Prior teaching experience in pharmacology, therapeutics, or related coursework preferred.
Experience working with PA students, medical learners, or other health professions learners preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide academic instruction in assigned pharmacology courses, including serving as the instructor of record for MPAS-561/562 Pharmacology I/II.
Develop, deliver, and evaluate course content using evidence-based pedagogy aligned with PA program goals and Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) Standards.
Serve as the program’s pharmacology subject matter expert to support curricular alignment, assessment, OSCE development, and faculty inquiries.
Collaborate with principal faculty to ensure pharmacology learning outcomes are vertically and horizontally integrated across the curriculum.
Assess student learning through exams, assignments, and other performance measures, providing timely and constructive feedback.
Utilize the PA program’s Learning Management System (LMS) to post materials, grade assignments, and communicate with students.
Participate in admissions activities as appropriate, including interviewing and evaluating applicants.
Participate in student orientation, OSCEs, remediation activities, and program events when appropriate.
Maintain a collegial learning environment that models professionalism, respect, and inclusion.
Stay current with developments in pharmacology, therapeutics, and PA education.
Engage in professional development activities relevant to teaching, assessment, and pharmacology content.
Other duties as assigned by the Program Director or designee.
