The Instructional Facilitator (IF) at Safer Foundation plays a crucial role in providing life skills instruction and academic support to the youth population served by the organization. This position is primarily focused on guiding class participants to achieve basic competence in essential subjects such as mathematics, reading, writing, science, and social studies, ultimately leading to the attainment of a high school equivalency diploma. The IF employs both peer and group learning techniques to facilitate this process, ensuring that each student receives the support they need to succeed. In addition to academic instruction, the IF is responsible for leading life skills activities and collaborating with the Youth Employment Program (YEP) team. This includes providing transportation for students, scheduling external speakers, developing lesson plans, and maintaining communication with Juvenile Court Services regarding client progress and concerns. The IF also manages the registration process, tracks daily attendance, enrolls students using Salesforce, and completes daily case notes to document student progress. The effectiveness of the Instructional Facilitator is measured by their ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of students, observe and evaluate student work, and provide constructive feedback. The IF is expected to prepare classroom materials, assist in the selection and placement of enrollees, and participate in regular staff meetings to ensure that all relevant information is shared and utilized in the development of participant progress plans. Furthermore, the IF plays a vital role in workforce readiness training and employment placement, helping students transition successfully into the workforce.
