About the Role: Why the role exists: The Instructional Experience Designer is a classroom-based educator who serves as a learning architect—designing, facilitating, and iterating dynamic, immersive, and inquiry-driven learning experiences that honor student passions, unlock potential, and ignite curiosity. Grounded in the district’s redesign principles, the Instructional Experience Designer creates interdisciplinary, technology-enhanced, and real-world learning environments that integrate literacy, STEM, storytelling, gaming, and performance-based tasks to ensure every student engages deeply and thrives academically, socially, and creatively.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field (Master’s preferred)
  • Valid Arizona Teaching Certificate
  • Demonstrated success in project-based, student-centered, or immersive learning environments
  • Familiarity with tools and approaches such as design thinking, studio learning, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), and Unity game engine and/or other /VR/AR platforms

Responsibilities

  • Design interdisciplinary, standards-aligned experiences rooted in student passions (e.g., gaming, storytelling, animals, sports, building, art).
  • Leverage learning studios (e.g., Story & Stream, Maker & Motion, Play & Performance, Community Studio) to connect literacy, math, science, and social studies through authentic inquiry.
  • Incorporate immersive simulations, interactive story-based missions, eSports, and VR/AR platforms into instruction to deepen engagement, promote critical thinking, and drive rigorous content mastery.
  • Facilitate learning that encourages choice, autonomy, and intellectual development.
  • Shift instructional stance from content deliverer to experience curator—guiding students through inquiry, reflection, and exhibition of learning.
  • Use data and formative assessment to personalize and iterate experiences for maximum impact.
  • Actively monitor and document student cognitive, social, and emotional development, utilizing strategies to support asynchronous development and intense emotional experiences.
  • Collaborate with other Instructional Experience Designers, specialists, and campus leaders to co-design interdisciplinary projects and showcase events.
  • Participate in continuous improvement cycles and studio-based design sprints to prototype and refine learning models.
  • Engage in reflective dialogue and public sharing of professional practice aligned to Innovation Enterprise priorities.
  • Ensure all learning experiences are culturally relevant, inclusive, and responsive to student needs.
  • Connect learning to real-world audiences, challenges, and performance tasks that reflect student interests and community assets.
  • Integrate tools like AI, project exhibitions, and service learning to deepen meaning and authentic application.
