The Instructional Design Team at Portage Learning works alongside Higher Education professionals to develop the highest quality online courses. This team works behind the scenes in creation and assembly of engaging course content- video, graphics, branding, and interactive tools. This internship is focused on learning about the field of instructional design and making a valuable contribution to the Portage Learning online education experience.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in computer science, communication, education, or related field
• Reliable; completes tasks and projects with some supervision
• Willingness to learn basic HTML and CSS coding
• Knowledge of accessibility standards (preferred not required)
• Ability to multi-task, set priorities, and achieve desired goals
• Excellent communication (written, verbal, listening, and public speaking) skills
• Ability to use Microsoft Office suite
• Experience with Learning Management Systems or Web CMS (preferred)
• Successful completion of a background check and current and/or ability to obtain the following clearances: Child Abuse, State Police, and FBI Fingerprinting
• Demonstrated agreement with and vision for the stated mission, philosophy, values, and goals of Portage Learning

Responsibilities

• Build curriculum Pages in Canvas (including text, images, figures, etc.)
• Build Problem Sets in Canvas
• Build Exam Question Banks in Canvas
• Learn and carry out branding colors onto the pages and into the text
• Engage in weekly professional development sessions as part of the summer internship cohort, cultivating collaboration, strengthening skills, and encouraging continuous learning
• Perform other related duties as assigned
