About The Position

Instructional Design and Implementation Manager – ELA Mission: The Instructional Design and Implementation Manager (IDIM) - ELA advances student achievement by designing high ‑ quality instructional materials, resources, training and supports (with the degree of authorship varying by subject) and by leading high ‑ fidelity implementation of network curriculum across regions. Grounded in the Science of Learning and aligned to MTSS Tier 1, 2, and 3 principles, the IDIM designs teacher and leader professional learning, builds regional capacity for instructional implementation, and uses student data, observation evidence, and stakeholder feedback to drive continuous improvement in instructional design and implementation so more students master grade ‑ level content with fair access. Supervisory Responsibilities Dotted line capacity-building for Regional C&I Coaches and teacher managers (e.g. Assistant Principals of Instruction; Principals). Dotted line collaboration with Texas Course Leaders (as assigned) to ensure coherence and quality in materials, training, and implementation supports. No formal direct reports unless otherwise assigned. Location: This is a full-time position based in Texas, with preference given to candidates who live in Austin, El Paso, Houston, Permian Basin (Midland/Odessa), Rio Grande Valley, San Antonio, and Tarrant County (Fort Worth), or who are willing to relocate. Travel Expectations: Up to 35% annually, with peaks up to 50% during adoption/launch windows and key training cycles; includes in ‑ region school visits and occasional travel across regions (commercial air travel may be required).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree or advanced degree preferred
  • Strong knowledge and demonstrated expertise in assigned program/content area and grade bands, including relevant assessments
  • Educator Certification Required
  • A minimum of five years teaching experience in the relevant content area
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 Suite; educational technology, learning management systems, or specific software related to curriculum design
  • Proven ability to design and facilitate effective professional learning

Responsibilities

  • Design, revise, and refine instructional materials, assessments, and scaffolds—ranging from full authorship (e.g., Social Studies, Science, Spanish) to localization of procured programs (e.g., ELA, Math), ensuring accessibility via designated platforms.
  • Ensure materials adhere to legal policies, are standards ‑ aligned, rigorous, and accessible, preserving grade-level expectations while scaffolding access for diverse learners (Emergent Bilingual, Specially Designed Instruction, and other priority groups).
  • Design and lead implementation systems (pacing guidance, PLC protocols, fidelity/walkthrough tools, “look ‑ fors ,” calibration artifacts) that ensure consistent, high-quality instruction and data-driven interventions.
  • Analyze student data, student work, and implementation evidence to identify trends, prioritize supports, and monitor impact on grade ‑ level performance and gap closure.
  • Design and facilitate timely, content ‑ specific PD for teachers and instructional leaders, aligned to district priorities and adult learning best practices.
  • Collaborate with campus and district leaders to identify trends in student performance and recommend instructional adjustments to improve outcomes.
  • Conduct regular campus observations and collaborate with school leaders to provide actionable feedback on curriculum implementation and instructional practices.
  • Build content/program subject matter expertise among Regional Content/Program Coaches, including content knowledge, pedagogical content knowledge, and technological pedagogical content knowledge.
  • Develop Regional Content/Program Coaches to deliver accurate, high ‑ impact PD and leader/teacher training with strong in ‑ field follow ‑ through.
  • Engage in recurring cross ‑ regional meetings with Regional Content/Program Coaches to review achievement data, calibrate on instructional look ‑ fors , and align on implementation priorities.
  • Provide observation ‑ based coaching (on-site and virtual) to regional (and sometimes school) instructional leaders, modeling effective feedback and transfer ‑ to ‑ practice strategies.
  • Coordinate with Executive Directors, VPs of Schools, and other regional instructional leaders to align supports with regional and district goals.
  • Support selection, rollout, and fidelity of new materials and instructional approaches; coordinate training and field support.
  • For procured programs, partner with vendors on updates, diagnostics, and training; maintain program integrity and licensing compliance.
  • Collaborate with Talent Development to create resources for Signature Development Programs and the Best Practices Library.
  • Work with Assessment, Schools Teams, Talent Development, and Academic Services to ensure coherence across materials, PD, and progress monitoring.
  • Lead or contribute to strategic academic initiatives (e.g., advisory boards, competitions, internships, cross ‑ campus programming).
  • Recruit, train, and coach Course Leaders to support curriculum implementation and instructional leadership, including summer onboarding and ongoing development.
