About The Position

Instructional Coordinators (ICs) bring professional-level industry experience in the specific content areas of the MBA programs. This experience adds value and reinforces academic content to the students enrolled in the College’s online graduate programs. Instructional Coordinators provide a high level of student outreach and have the availability to frequently connect with students, academic advisors and team leads. They must be engaging, offering an increased and innovative presence in the online classroom to best serve the student and facilitate student success. Instructional Coordinators are expected to provide substantial and specific student feedback and offer a quick turnaround on grades. Instructional Coordinators reflect department and institutional values, and they are expected to foster the college’s commitment to CSU’s mission. Instructional Coordinators may be hired for fall, spring and/or summer term in a given academic year. Applications will be accepted throughout the calendar year. Hiring decisions are normally made during the late spring and throughout the summer for fall semester, during fall semester for spring semester, and during spring semester for the summer term. Requirements

  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States by proposed start date. The College of Business will not sponsor a visa for these positions.
  • For those applying for the IC - MBA: MBA, MSBA degree or equivalent from a school of business accredited by the AACSB—(The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International) OR earned Master’s, JD degree, OR PhD. or PhD. candidate in a relevant field of study, or DBA or equivalent.
  • Five years of full-time professional experience with a demonstrated progression in responsibility and authority, or equivalent teaching experience in required topic area.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to self-direct and self-motivate.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience delivering supplemental teaching/coaching to students in order to promote mastery of course content and to provide specific feedback to foster understanding of content.
  • Willingness and ability to work weekends, early morning hours, and evening hours.
  • Applicants must have technical and academic current skills/experience in one or more of the following content areas to serve in the MBA program as an Instructional Coordinator: Accounting, Marketing, Leadership, International Business, Finance, Economics, Legal and Ethical Business Environment, Strategy, Human Resources, Supply Chain, and Statistics.
  • Applicants must have the technology required to work online, the ability to load necessary software required to serve the students, or have access to this technology.

  • For those applying for the IC - MCIS: MBA, MSBA, MCIS degree or equivalent from a school of business accredited by the AACSB—(The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International) OR earned Master’s, JD degree, OR PhD. or PhD. candidate in a relevant field of study.
  • Applicants must have current technical and academic skills/experience in one or more of the following content areas to serve as Instructional Coordinator in the MCIS program: IT infrastructure and management, ERP, network administration, Linux and Windows use and administration, programming/scripting (e.g., C#, ASP.Net, PHP, Java, bash, PowerShell, Python, R, JavaScript, HTML, CSS), database concepts and design, UML & ER diagramming and modeling, SQL, NoSQL, systems analysis and design, cybersecurity, project management, analytics, machine learning, visualization, and business intelligence.

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ Years’ experience in the online learning environment.
  • 2+ Years’ experience using a Learning Management System (LMS) such as Canvas (Instructure), Blackboard, Moodle, etc.
  • Demonstrated experience in AdWords, WordPress, SEO, or other marketing data analytical tools.

Responsibilities

  • Reinforce, re-teach, and tutor concepts to students in online sections. This includes teaching the application of concepts from theory in the classroom to practice in industry/career environment based on professional experience in various concept areas.
  • Grade all student assignments, submissions, and discussions to assess mastery of course content.
  • Hold virtual office hours (by phone, Web conference, or chat) to provide additional reinforcement of course concepts or tutoring students who need additional reinforcement.
  • Instructional Coordinators oversee course sections of 30-40 online students per section, serving as primary liaison between course content and communication for online students via email, phone, or web conference.
  • Review course materials and lectures in preparation for serving the students.
