Position: Instructional Coach/MTSS Lead Job Summary: The Full-Time Instructional Coach serves as a catalyst for systemic improvement in instruction across the building, with a shared focus on leading, facilitating, and monitoring the Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) framework. This role is responsible for building staff capacity through high-quality, job-embedded coaching, modeling effective instructional practices. Additionally the Coach is responsible for ensuring that the MTSS process is consistently implemented with fidelity. The Coach will analyze school-wide and disaggregated student data to guide the MTSS team, support the development of tiered interventions, and ensure alignment with the overall MTSS strategy. The ideal candidate is an experienced educator with deep expertise with regards to both Instructional Coaching and MTSS implementation. Additional expertise with adult learning principles, effective instructional strategies, and data-driven decision-making is essential. Requirements

  • Valid Teaching Certificate in a relevant K-8 area.
  • Minimum of five years of successful classroom teaching experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise and strong understanding of Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) or Response to Intervention (RTI) models, including screening, progress monitoring, and team facilitation.
  • Proven experience delivering professional development, instructional coaching, or adult learning initiatives.
  • Demonstrated expertise in analyzing student data to drive instructional decisions at both the classroom and system level.
  • Exceptional ability to collaborate, communicate effectively, and promote a positive, data-informed professional culture.
  • Ability to move around the classroom, stand for extended periods, lift up to 25 lbs., crouch/kneel as needed.
  • Clear and professional verbal and written communication with students, staff, and families.
  • Create a structured, inclusive learning environment that fosters both academic and social-emotional growth.
  • Maintain composure and professionalism in a dynamic school setting.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Reading Education, Literacy, Curriculum & Instruction, Educational Leadership, or a related field.
  • Proven experience with MTSS Facilitation or specific intervention models.
  • Experience coaching teachers in content areas beyond ELA/Literacy (e.g., Math, Science).

Responsibilities

  • Lead and facilitate the building's MTSS process, including regular meetings for universal screening, progress monitoring, team consultation, and intervention planning across academic and behavioral domains.
  • Ensure fidelity of MTSS implementation by monitoring the effective use of universal screening tools, progress monitoring systems, and evidence-based practices at Tiers 1, 2, and 3.
  • Collaborate with building leadership and designated data teams to analyze comprehensive student data (academic, social-emotional, behavioral) to identify areas of need and inform tiered support allocation.
  • Support the selection, adoption, and implementation of high-quality, research-based interventions and instructional programs aligned with the science of learning and the MTSS framework.
  • Develop and maintain a clear system for documentation, communication, and referral pathways within the building's MTSS structure.
  • Serve as a thought partner and resource for all teaching staff across core content areas with a strong emphasis on ELA/Literacy and Mathematics regarding evidence-based instruction, curriculum alignment, and assessment.
  • Facilitate job-embedded coaching cycles with teachers focused on improving instructional effectiveness and data-driven practice, including goal setting, observation, feedback, and reflection.
  • Model effective instructional strategies in classrooms (e.g., gradual release, differentiated instruction, effective small-group facilitation) and support teachers in adapting these practices for their diverse learners.
  • Plan and deliver high-leverage professional learning opportunities (e.g., workshops, book studies, PLC agendas) aligned with building goals, MTSS needs, and current research.
  • Provide direct, targeted intervention support to small groups or individual students who require Tier 2 or Tier 3 support, as determined by the MTSS team process.
  • Utilize diagnostic tools and progress monitoring to precisely track the growth of students receiving intensive support and report findings back to the MTSS team.
  • Collaborate with interventionists, special education staff, and classroom teachers to ensure seamless alignment between core instruction and intensive intervention.
