About The Position

Instructional Assistants Special Education assist a teacher in providing instruction to individual or small groups of students in a special education learning environment. Assignments are throughout the district at middle and high schools in Special Education classrooms. We don't need a resume or letters of recommendation, so applying is easy. The competitive basis for this recruitment is established as open/promotional - dual certification. Candidates who meet the minimum qualifications take an Instructional Asst test (English, math, and writing), weight: 100%. Candidates who pass the exams are placed on an eligibility list in order of overall exam score. Candidate names will be merged onto an existing list based on overall exam score each time the exam is administered. The eligibility list is used to fill vacancies withing a six month period. If a candidate has taken the multiple choice and/or performance test for this San Dieguito Union High School District job title or similar job title within the past two years, candidate may be able to transfer the scores to this recruitment. The exam must be sufficiently similar, as determined by the Director, Classified Personnel. Employment with San Dieguito Union High School District is contingent upon successful completion of post-offer background check, fingerprinting, physical exam including tuberculosis, drug and alcohol screening, and an Oath of Allegiance. The probationary period for a new or promotional employee is six months or 130 days of paid service, whichever is longer. Management employees serve a probationary period of one year. Requirements

Six months of job-related experience working with children, either paid or volunteer.
CPR and First Aid Certification from an accredited organization such as the Red Cross or American Heart Association.
Online First Aid certificates are acceptable, however, CPR certificate must include "hands on" classroom training.
