About The Position

Texas A&M International University (TAMIU), a member of the Texas A&M University System, welcomes applicants for an Instructional Assistant Professor of Special Education to begin Fall 2026 . TAMIU is a Hispanic Serving Institution with over 8,000 students located in Laredo, Texas, a vibrant and bicultural city with a population of about 250,000. For more information, please visit https://www.tamiu.edu/ This is a non tenure-track Instructional Assistant Professor (9-month faculty position; 3-year appointment with the possibility of renewal based on annual evaluations and performance). Primary duties will include teaching 15 semester credit hours (the equivalent of five courses) per semester in various modalities including face-to-face and online undergraduate courses and online graduate courses. Duties also include mentoring students and providing service on departmental, college, university, and professional committees. This position requires face-to-face interactions through a regular schedule of attendance on campus and in the workplace. The mission of the College of Education is to prepare highly effective, culturally competent educational professionals who are equipped to understand and assume leadership positions in a global society.

Requirements

  • The successful candidate must hold a doctorate in Special Education or a related field.
  • ABDs will also be considered but must have earned a doctorate before appointment.

  • Ability to teach in areas that complement/strengthen our programs
  • Hold State of Texas Special Education Teacher Certification and/or Educational Diagnostician Certification
