About The Position

The Bridgeport Public Schools is seeking an Instructional Assistant for the 2025 - 2026 school year. This is a 10-month position with multiple vacancies available district-wide. The starting salary for this position is $26,510. Current members of AFSCME LOCAL 1522 will be given first opportunity to fill the position.

Requirements

• Associate's degree, the equivalent number of college credits or have successfully passed the paraprofessional assessment exam
• A minimum of 12 college credits in Early Childhood Education to work in a Pre-K classroom
• Demonstrates aptitude for work to be performed
• Bilingual/Bicultural (as appropriate)
• Demonstrates ability to relate well with staff and the public
• Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
• Requires basic computer skills
• Ability to provide excellent attendance and punctuality on a daily basis

Responsibilities

• Serves under the direct supervision of the teacher or curriculum specialist in supplementing instruction
• Assists in the assessment of students
• Assists in the registration, clerical and other routine duties that improve the classroom/school organization, management and atmosphere
• Attends in-service workshops and staff meetings where job related, as per contract
• Responsible for lunchroom duty
• Performs other related duties as assigned
