About The Position

This position is a 10-month employment role within the Charles County Public Schools system, classified as non-exempt. The role involves providing instructional support to elementary children, assisting teachers in planning and executing educational activities, and maintaining a safe and orderly classroom environment.

Requirements

• High school diploma required.
• 48 college credits or passing ParaPro score required.
• Experience working with children required.
• Must be at least 18 years old to work in elementary schools.

• Ability to plan developmentally appropriate activities as directed by the math teacher.
• Work collaboratively with the Instructional Resource Teacher to provide direct instruction.
• Must be flexible and willing to adjust to the ever-changing needs of the students and teachers.

Responsibilities

• Assists teacher in planning instructional activities and maintaining a safe and orderly environment.
• Works with individuals or small groups to provide instructional reinforcement after the teacher delivers the instruction.
• Maintains accurate records of student achievement through ongoing data collection and progress monitoring.
• Completes inventory of materials.
• Assists the teacher in preparing for a lesson.
• Regular on-time attendance.
• Performs related duties as assigned by the principal.
• Required to provide substitute coverage as needed.
