Requirements

• Bachelor's degree (Required)
• Experience working with middle school or high school-aged students with special needs in a traditional or public charter school (Preferred)
• Strong communication skills for effective interactions with teaching teams, staff, families, and children.
• Demonstrated knowledge of instructing reading, writing, and mathematics in small groups and 1:1 instruction.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialized instruction to students with special education needs using lesson plans from the Lead Teacher.
• Support the lead instructor with classroom instruction and management.
• Work with students one-on-one or in small group settings.
• Tailor lessons to meet individual student needs and assist with challenging assignments.
• Monitor and record student progress or behavior to better meet their needs and IEP goals.
• Assist teachers in preparing lesson plans that fit the needs of their students.
• Maintain the classroom's appearance, including cleaning and preparing visual aids for lessons.
• Support the creation of environments and instructional opportunities for diverse learners.
• Assist in the preparation of materials for class and classroom activities.
• Share responsibility for supervising students in all areas of the school.
