About The Position

This position is a 10-month non-exempt role within the Charles County Public Schools system. The employee will work in an instructional support capacity, primarily assisting high school aged children. The role requires a high school diploma and experience working with children. The employee will be responsible for planning instructional activities, maintaining a safe environment, and providing instructional reinforcement under the guidance of a literacy teacher.

Requirements

• High school diploma required.
• Experience working with children required.
• Must be at least 18 years old and out of high school for at least 2 years to work in middle and high schools.

Responsibilities

• Assists teacher in planning instructional activities and maintaining a safe and orderly environment.
• Works with individuals or small groups to provide instructional reinforcement after the teacher delivers the instruction.
• Assists the teacher in preparing for a lesson.
• Regular on-time attendance.
• Performs related duties as assigned by the principal.
• Required to provide substitute coverage as needed.
• May require toileting depending upon the area/program assigned.
