Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Is eligible for Instructional Aide license through the State of Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction
  • A demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment and effectively solve problems
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure while maintaining self-composure and self-control
  • Effective working alone and as a member of a team

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred
  • At least one year of experience working with special needs students preferred

Responsibilities

  • Meets with classroom teacher and/or immediate supervisor to discuss daily activities, academics, behaviors, social and/or medical concerns related to the students.
  • Completes and submits paperwork, lesson plans, instructional data, and behavior data in a timely fashion as scheduled per students assigned.
  • Uses Agency-approved treatment techniques in supervising and educating students.
  • Demonstrates familiarity with behavior management and behavior education techniques used at GLS.
  • Acts as a role model and sets an appropriate example for students, staff, and the community.
  • Demonstrates familiarity with curriculum by using resources to implement students’ program under the direction and training of the classroom teacher and the Education/Learning Coordinator.
  • Engages students in active learning.
  • Provides constructive criticism and feedback for staff working within the classroom setting and ensures that Education Department policies are withheld.
