About The Position

The primary purpose of this position is to assist the teacher in the preparation and management of classroom activities and administrative requirements. The individual will work under the supervision of a certified teacher, contributing to a positive learning environment for students.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED
• 48 college hours from an accredited college or university
• Ability to work well with children
• Ability to communicate effectively
• Some experience working with children

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.
• Assist with administration and scoring objective testing instruments or work assignments.
• Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom.
• Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
• Help teachers keep administrative records and prepare required reports.
• Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
• Conduct instructional exercises assigned by the teacher; work with individual students or small groups.
• Help supervise students throughout the school day, inside and outside the classroom, including lunchroom, bus, and playground duty.
• Keep teachers informed of special needs or problems of individual students.
• Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance.
• Participate in faculty meetings and special events as assigned.
• Coordinate with the assigned department.
• Perform any other duties as may be assigned.
• Safely perform all duties to avoid injury to oneself and/or others.
