Job Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Intensive Program Instructional Aide to support students with the most complex academic, behavioral, and therapeutic needs. This role works directly with Certified Special Education Teachers and an interdisciplinary team to provide academic support, behavior coaching, and supervision in a highly structured and supportive classroom environment. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor’s degree in psychology, education, or related field preferred
  • Eligible for Wisconsin Instructional Aide license through DPI
  • At least 1 year of experience working with students with special needs required
  • Ability to maintain a calm and effective demeanor in emergencies and stressful situations
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to exercise sound judgement and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to deliver high-quality care
  • Ability to effectively implement approved physical intervention techniques
  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Must possess a valid Driver's License and have an acceptable driving record.
  • Willingness to work with residents in a variety of settings, including community outings

Responsibilities

  • Student Support & Instruction Provide academic, behavioral, and social-emotional support under the direction of a Certified Special Education Teacher
  • Engage students in active learning and therapeutic programming
  • Implement individualized education and behavior support strategies
  • Track and document student progress, behavior data, and daily activities
  • Support student transitions, routines, and classroom engagement
  • Classroom Safety & Supervision Maintain a safe, structured, and therapeutic classroom environment
  • Maintain constant awareness and supervision of students at all times
  • Follow individual student safety plans and emergency procedures
  • Use de-escalation and approved physical intervention techniques as trained
  • Ensure potentially harmful items are secured and classroom guidelines are followed
  • Team Collaboration & Communication Work closely with teachers, therapists, case coordinators, medical staff, and families
  • Participate in meetings, trainings, and interdisciplinary collaboration
  • Communicate student progress and concerns to the classroom teacher and leadership
  • Provide modeling and support to classroom team members
  • Professional Responsibilities Maintain confidentiality and protect student rights and dignity
  • Complete documentation, incident reports, and required trainings
  • Follow agency policies, attendance expectations, and dress code
  • Maintain a valid Wisconsin Instructional Aide license and driver’s license
  • Support school safety procedures and transportation of students as needed
