About The Position

This is full-time, benefits-eligible work assisting teachers with curriculum planning, student supervision, and instruction in a classroom setting. The role supports educational programming by presenting and reinforcing learning concepts, preparing classroom materials, and ensuring a safe and engaging learning environment for youth.

Requirements

High School diploma/GED and one (1) year of experience working in an instructional/childcare setting;
One (1) year of experience at the lower-level Instruction Paraprofessional 1 (EDS010) or equivalent position.

Nice To Haves

Experience working with at-risk youth in an educational setting.
Associate's degree.
Experience as a teacher's aide and/or office clerk.
Paraprofessional Certification with the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC) or completion of a two-year degree.

Responsibilities

Provide support to teachers to maintain a structured and engaging classroom environment.
Assist teachers in planning and preparing daily instructional activities.
Help develop lesson outlines, plans, and curricula in assigned subject areas.
Prepare teaching aids such as activity sheets, drawings, and classroom materials.
Present subject matter to students under teacher guidance, using methods such as stories, discussions, and role-play.
Assist students individually or in small groups to reinforce learning concepts.
Perform clerical tasks such as preparing, typing, copying, and filing instructional materials.
Operate and care for instructional equipment and classroom materials.
Monitor and manage student behavior in accordance with established procedures.
Participate in professional development activities as assigned.
Follow all DJJ and school district policies and procedures.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
