About The Position

Designs and implements library instruction and information literacy efforts for all levels of classes; develops and promotes services for students using a variety of media; collaborates with other librarians to coordinate library marketing and outreach materials.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in library and information science (MLS/MLIS) from a program accredited by the American Library Association
  • Broad knowledge of library policies and procedures
  • Ability to teach library instruction classes and computer literacy in an academic environment
  • Ability to assess and evaluate services and prepare associated reports
  • Excellent written communication skills and ability to prepare instructional and information materials
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to assist library patrons with reference services
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment and act upon decisions within scope of delegated authority
  • Proficiency with graphic design programs
  • Proficiency with PC software applications in a Windows environment

Nice To Haves

  • (2) years related experience preferred.
  • Experience with automated library systems preferred

Responsibilities

  • Designs, implements, and promotes library-related instruction to all levels of classes; selects appropriate delivery methods, including written, oral, visual, and online.
  • Collaborates with faculty and instructional support personnel to ensure alignment with desired learning outcomes and objectives.
  • Creates and maintains tutorial videos for student use.
  • Creates and presents workshops for students in the use of library resources, both in person and online.
  • Maintains and reports accurate assessments of instructional activities and learning outcomes.
  • Collaborates with other librarians to coordinate library instruction, information literacy, and outreach efforts through materials and events.
  • Represents the library at campus events (i.e. including Jag Days, Super Saturdays, Orientation, etc.)
  • Provides reference services at the main reference desk.
  • Participates in collection development in assigned subject area.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
