About The Position

To provide instruction and tutoring as an assistant to an academic teacher in a state facility or university; perform related work. To provide support to classroom (didactic) and lab (hands on) training in the Automotive Collision Repair & Refinishing program in the College of Technology. Please be aware: the successful candidate will work 40 hours per week, nine months per year with pay spread over 12 months.

Requirements

  • Some knowledge of behavioral management as related to an educational environment.
  • Experience presenting lesson plans and educational materials to students.
  • Experience working in a group education setting.
  • Experience entering and retrieving data and maintaining records using an automated record system.
  • Experience typing labels, lists, forms and reports.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare materials for lessons, demonstrations, and tours.
  • Operate office equipment including computers, printers, and photocopiers.
  • Ensure that instructors have all materials necessary for class activities in lab portion of the program.
  • Be proficient with shop hand tools, be able to demonstrate safe use, and be able to provide safety oversight to lab activities.
  • Work with students individually or in small groups for training or remediation.
  • Maintain detailed financial records for local and state accounts.
  • Maintain/service tools, issue tools, and maintain tool accountability.
  • Order consumables for live work and training in the program.
  • Supervise students in lab activities in the absence of an instructor.
  • Conduct safety audits, ensure students comply with safety policies, and adhere to PPE guidance.
  • Collect payment and turn in money from customers from live work.
  • Coordinate with classroom teachers to determine daily tasks.
  • Supervise students in various settings including classrooms, service projects, and field trips.
  • Enforce university, college, and program rules and/or policies.
  • Follow all DEQ regulations and adhere to HAZMAT protocols.
  • Attend staff meetings, professional development, and training sessions.
  • Ensure safety of staff and students.
  • Other duties as assigned.
