About The Position

Texas A&M International University (TAMIU), a member of the Texas A&M University System, welcomes applicants for an Instruction and Learning Technologies Librarian to begin August 2026. TAMIU is a Hispanic Serving Institution with over 8,000 students located in Laredo, Texas, a vibrant and bicultural city with a population of about 250,000. For more information, please visit https://www.tamiu.edu/ This is a non-tenure track fixed-term professional faculty position with an initial appointment of 3 years and renewable for up to five years at a time as qualified by Texas A&M University System Policy 12.07. Primary duties will include: Designing, developing, curating, revising, and delivering effective online instructional plans and resources, using accessibility guidelines and principles, best practices in pedagogy and instructional design, and relevant library and higher education standards. Promoting library instruction, services, and use of collections through targeted outreach to students and faculty, with particular emphasis on online and hybrid courses and degree programs. Gathering data to assess the quality and impact of instruction services. Teaching and hosting instruction sessions and workshops in both face-to-face and online modalities using the library’s instructional program strategy, professional standards, and information literacy frameworks. Collaborating with faculty, staff, and students to design, produce, and integrate instructional materials, including online tutorials, resource guides, videos, and self-paced learning modules using platforms such as Springshare LibGuides, Blackboard Ultra, and other learning technologies. Assisting faculty in identifying and locating OER to supplement library materials for teaching and learning; Conducting research consultations both online and face to face Maintaining current knowledge of trends, tools, and best practices in online learning, instructional design, and library instruction through continuous professional development. Serving as a liaison to eLearning, and other academic and nonacademic departments to support campus-wide teaching, learning, and online education initiatives; Serving as liaison to assigned academic departments for research and instruction support; Participating in special projects and serving on departmental, university, and professional committees; Other duties as assigned. This position requires face-to-face interactions through a regular schedule of attendance on campus and in the workplace.

Requirements

  • An earned Master’s degree in Library Science or equivalent degree from an American Library Association (ALA)-accredited institution. Candidates nearing degree completion will also be considered but must have earned the Master’s degree before appointment.
  • Demonstrated experience or familiarity with multimedia learning object creation (video, audio, and visual)
  • Demonstrated potential for advancement in rank

Nice To Haves

  • Experience designing and administering information literacy instruction and incorporating best pedagogical approaches to information literacy both in-person and virtually.
  • Familiarity with current and emerging trends in librarianship in the area of online and asynchronous instruction.
  • Experience or familiarity with using Learning Management Systems (Blackboard, Canvas, Moodle, etc.)
  • Experience or familiarity locating, using, adapting, and/or creating open educational resources (OER)
  • A strong desire to serve first-generation students
  • One to two years of related experience
