About The Position

Plans and manages the daily business and administrative operations of the institutional review board (IRB). Provides specialized review, facilitation and support of human research activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Knowledge of human research policies, regulations, and procedures.
  • Verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports.
  • Ability to provide guidance and training to professional and technical staff.

Responsibilities

  • Plans and manages the IRB department's daily business and administrative operations, including invoicing and payments received.
  • Reviews IRB submissions to ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance with applicable federal regulations and institutional policies.
  • Provides daily coordination and facilitates interaction between research personnel and the IRB.
  • Provides education and guidance to investigators and research staff regarding interpretation of applicable federal, state, and institutional regulations, guidelines, policies, and procedures.
  • Recommends on how best to implement those regulations, guidelines, policies, and procedures.
  • Independently oversees response to specialized and/or confidential information to and from federal agencies including issues of noncompliance.
  • Prepares reports and maintains applicable records and files; maintains proper equipment and inventory levels.
  • Reviews and interprets IRB administrative policies and procedures and recommends/implements changes as required to achieve objectives.
