Position Title: Institutional Researcher Employee Classification: Institutional Researcher College/Division: Provost Office Department: 390100-INSTITUTIONAL ANALYSIS Internal or External Search: External - Open to all applicants Location: Las Cruces Offsite Location (if applicable): Target Hourly/Salary Rate: 53,165.80 Appointment Full-time Equivalency: 1.0 Exempt or Non-Exempt: Exempt Summary: The Office of Institutional Analysis invites you to apply for the position of Institutional Researcher. Classification Summary: Collect, extract, analyze and communicate institutional data to constituents throughout the university community to support and enhance informed decision-making, strategic planning, policy development, and institutional self-assessment. Conduct detailed research and data analysis and convert analytical results into consumer reports. Assist in design and maintenance of information systems and databases to support institutional research activities. Prepare graphical and numerical data displays for optimum data understanding by constituents. Classification Standard Duties: Develop, and maintain longitudinal data sets, verifying accuracy and consistency over time, in the context of evolving requirements regarding reporting institutional data. . Understand and identify university data, and gather, manipulate, and analyze data as necessary through SAS or other SQL programming tools. Interpret analyses and prepare formal research reports. Prepare graphical and numerical data displays for optimum data understanding by constituents. Review and understand instructions from internal and external sources and surveys, gather pertinent data, and work with internal teams to deliver research and analysis results on topics such as enrollment statistics, employee statistics, retention and graduation statistics, and financial aid and finance-related statistics. Assist with a wide variety of survey research efforts including survey construction, development of survey instruments, deployment of surveys, analysis of results, and construction of survey reports. Work with other institutional research staff to coordinate work and provide technical assistance, as assigned. May provide functional direction to lower level technicians on assigned work. Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. Required Education, Experience, Certification/License, Equivalency Required Education:Bachelor's degree in a related field.; Required Experience:One (1) year of experience related to the standard duties as outlined.; Equivalency:None; Required Certification/License: Knowledge, Skills and Abilities KNOWLEDGE:Intermediate knowledge of SAS, SPSS, or similar SQL programming language to manipulate, analyze, and produce reports from multiple, large, complex databases. Basic to intermediate knowledge of statistical concepts, protocol, and procedures. Intermediate knowledge of PC spreadsheet programs such as MS Excel, report production software (such as MS Word, MS Publisher, InDesign), and presentation software (such as MS Powerpoint) Basic knowledge of PC management. Basic to intermediate knowledge of survey software (such as Qualtrics or SurveyMonkey) Basic knowledge of current topics in higher education.; SKILLS:Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively and professionally with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.; ABILITIES:Intermediate to advanced ability to manipulate, evaluate and analyze data. Strong ability to communicate effectively and to convert analytical results into consumer reports. Ability to complete assignments quickly and accurately, with attention to detail. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, function as part of a team, and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
