About The Position

The Institutional Research Data Analyst is responsible for producing regular reports for both internal and external stakeholders, fulfilling ad hoc data requests, and providing on-demand access to data through interactive reports and dashboards. This role involves direct customer service, collaborating with various academic and administrative departments to clarify information needs and enhance the data-user experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Data Analytics, Education/Educational Research, Social Sciences, Statistics, or related field with significant coursework in research methods and statistical analysis.
  • One year of responsible research, analysis, and report presentation experience, including part-time/internship/graduate TA work.
  • 1+ years experience in institutional research or similar setting (primarily educational research).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Word, or equivalent.
  • Experience in extracting data from relational databases.
  • Experience using SAS, SQL, R, or other reporting/data extraction software.
  • Experience with Microsoft Power BI data visualization development.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in data analytics, social sciences, statistics, or related field.
  • Three years of responsible research, analysis, and report presentation experience, preferably in higher education.

Responsibilities

  • Responds to internal and external ad hoc requests with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Gathers, organizes, maintains, and updates information for federal, state, local, and institutional reports, ensuring data accuracy.
  • Works with curated and raw data to create prepared datasets for analysis and reporting.
  • Analyzes, interprets, and presents data related to student recruitment, admissions, enrollment, retention, and program effectiveness.
  • Constructs effective data displays, including tables, graphics, and reports/dashboards.
  • Supports student success through the creation and maintenance of retention and graduation reports.
  • Extracts and transforms data from curated databases to create reports.
  • Develops, maintains, and refreshes reports, including dashboard reports throughout the year.
  • Prepares status reports, including daily, weekly, monthly, and annual reporting.
  • Assists with university-wide surveys and reporting, including data verification and dissemination.
