About the position

The Institutional Research Analyst at the University of Washington Bothell plays a crucial role in supporting campus decision-making, planning, and policy formation through data analysis and information services. This position involves collaborating with various stakeholders to identify research needs and develop data-informed solutions, utilizing advanced data analysis techniques and business intelligence tools to enhance institutional effectiveness.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and building of institution-level dashboards to drive data-informed decision making in collaboration with OIR staff and campus stakeholders.
  • Respond to ad hoc requests related to grant applications, curricular accreditation, and process improvement projects, requiring strong project management skills.
  • Support advanced data analysis projects, including multivariate regression and machine learning techniques to model student retention and graduation outcomes, as well as enrollment and admissions projections.
  • Assist the OIR Director in drafting recommendations for senior leadership and technical documentation for OIR projects and reports.
  • Maintain OIR's website and other communication platforms, and cross-train with other OIR staff on BI technologies and data analysis methodologies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a Social Science field, Business, Math, Computer Science or related field.
  • Two years of experience with data analysis using R, Python, Excel or other software.
  • Beginner to Intermediate knowledge of data visualization software, such as Tableau, Microsoft Power BI, Microsoft Excel, ARC GIS, or R's Shiny Library.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to work at a high level in a windows-based operating system, specifically MS Word and MS Excel.

Nice-to-haves

  • Beginner to Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server or T-SQL.
  • Experience creating original datasets from multiple data sources using a query language or statistical programming software.
