About The Position

The Institute Director is a leader within the Meyers Institute for Oncology Nursing, responsible for shaping and advancing the Institute’s strategic vision in frontline nurse discovery (e.g. research, evidence-based practice, and quality improvement). The Institute Director also collaborates with the Meyers Institute leadership team to manage and oversee the Institute’s longitudinal impact and dissemination strategy including the development, publication, and promotion of scholarly and practice-based outputs that influence oncology nursing practice locally, nationally, and globally. This position supports cross-functional collaborations across the Meyers Institute’s priority areas, as well as with operational, quality, innovation, and technology teams, to drive transformational gains in frontline nurse discovery. The Institute Director synthesizes complex datasets and research findings into strategic insights, guiding executive decision-making, long-term planning, and institute sustainability. The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and a PhD in Nursing or a health-related field . They must be licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas and possess certification in their area of expertise . This individual will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in data analytics or bioinformatics , coupled with 5 or more years of leadership experience within an academic or large health system. They will demonstrate expertise in healthcare analytics, evidence-based practice, and scholarly dissemination , with proven ability to translate data into actionable insights. Proficiency in data visualization tools (such as Tableau or Power BI) and statistical software is essential. The candidate will exhibit exceptional communication and scientific writing skills , along with strong strategic thinking and project management capabilities in a matrixed, interprofessional environment .

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • PhD in Nursing or a health-related field
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas
  • Certification in their area of expertise
  • 5 years of experience in data analytics or bioinformatics
  • 5 or more years of leadership experience within an academic or large health system
  • Expertise in healthcare analytics, evidence-based practice, and scholarly dissemination
  • Proven ability to translate data into actionable insights
  • Proficiency in data visualization tools (such as Tableau or Power BI) and statistical software
  • Exceptional communication and scientific writing skills
  • Strong strategic thinking and project management capabilities in a matrixed, interprofessional environment
  • Master's Degree Nursing or Healthcare Administration or related field
  • 5 years of progressive experience in leadership in an academic or large health system.
  • 2 years in a management role.
  • Professional Nursing License (RN)
  • Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.

Nice To Haves

  • 5 years of experience in data analytics or bioinformatics with demonstrated experience in healthcare analytics, evidence-based practice, and scholarly dissemination.
  • Successful completion of the LEADing Self Accelerate and/or LEADing Self Discover programs may substitute for one year of required supervisory or management experience.
  • Completion of both programs can be substituted for a maximum of two years of supervisory or management experience.

Responsibilities

  • Serves on the Meyers Institute for Oncology Nursing leadership team and helps drive Institute priorities in concert with the Division of Nursing.
  • Develops analytic models to evaluate the longitudinal impact of the Meyers Institute offerings in conjunction with the Division and Department of Nursing.
  • Leads the objectives and priorities of the Institute’s Nursing Discovery focus area.
  • Leads the selection and analysis of Institute key performance indicators and creates and maintains a dashboard to visually depict focus area metrics.
  • Partners with the Division of Nursing on evidence-based practice, research, and quality leadership to ensure alignment with Institute goals and objectives.
  • Partners with the Department of Nursing on faculty-led nursing research efforts.
  • Identifies funding opportunities to help promote the Institute’s sustainability in the areas of scholarship, evidence-based practice, and quality improvement.
  • Manages the Meyers Institute’s publications and dissemination strategy, ensuring timely and impactful communication of findings, best practices, and innovations.
  • Leads the design and execution of high-impact research, evidence-based practice, and quality improvement initiatives aligned with institutional priorities.
  • Translates Institute data into strategy, research, policy, practice, and education recommendations.
  • Communicates complex scientific and analytic findings to various stakeholder audiences with clarity and strategic relevance.
  • Cultivates partnerships with academia, industry, and community collaborators to advance innovative Institute imperatives.
  • Represents the Institute in high-level forums, conferences, and collaborative networks to elevate its visibility and influence.
  • Provides mentorship and development to emerging nurse scholars within the Institute.
