Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED and Electronics training equivalent to 2 years of technical trade school or equivalent as determined by Installation Manager.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Level II Central Office Installer.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Word, and Excel and work within company-provided databases to update job statuses.
  • Ability to lift tools and equipment as needed (minimum 10 lbs).
  • Proficient in customer specifications and standards.
  • Excellent communication skills; speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; listens and gets clarification; demonstrates group presentation skills.
  • Excellent time management; organizational; plans work activities; set goals and objectives; develop realistic action plans.
  • Dependable; follows instructions, responds to management direction; keeps commitments.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret the proper installation specifications for various construction projects.
  • Determine floor plan layouts, power distribution, backup power supplies, and cabling of central office equipment.
  • Design, identify, and requisition parts necessary to establish low- and high-level racking, transmission racking, power racking, aisle lighting, and provision for grounding.
  • Create comprehensive and accurate installation specifications and accurate equipment requirements to fulfill customer orders.
  • Create or correct location records, drawings, bill of materials (BOM), installation notes, and memos to reflect additions and modifications to customers' location (central office) as a result of installation or engineering activities.
  • Have familiarity with specifications and drawings required to assemble and integrate telco transmission equipment into a Central Office environment.
  • Utilize hand tools required for the installation of transmission equipment including crimpers, wire wrap guns, strippers, wrenches, hammers, drills, stencils, etc.
  • Inventory and transport tools/materials as required to the job site.
  • Act in a supervisory manner and provide direction to lower-level installers on individual job progress, material shortages, customer complaints, and unsafe or inoperable tools.
  • Have familiarity with Customer installation and quality standards including IP72202.
  • Provide for self-quality check of all portions of job responsible for prior to sign off.
  • Assemble, modify and install overhead ironwork, relay racks, transmission equipment and cable ladder.
  • Run power, signal, and ground cables to interconnect equipment.
  • Stencil installed equipment and terminations.
  • Establish and maintain a professional rapport with customers, supervisors, and co-workers.
  • Maintain and provide accurate departmental paperwork as requested.
  • Know all safety and security requirements and follow them implicitly; Assist in maintaining a safe and hazard-free work area.
  • Dress appropriately for the job environment.
  • Be proficient in all phases of installation and testing of equipment to provide for progression in the business.
  • Review installation specifications.
