Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED and Electronics training equivalent to 2 years of technical trade school.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Level II Central Office Installer.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, and company-provided databases.
  • Ability to lift tools and equipment as needed (minimum 10 lbs).
  • Proficient in customer specifications and standards.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Dependable and follows instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret installation specifications for various construction projects.
  • Determine floor plan layouts, power distribution, backup power supplies, and cabling of central office equipment.
  • Design, identify, and requisition parts necessary to establish low- and high-level racking, transmission racking, power racking, aisle lighting, and provision for grounding.
  • Create comprehensive and accurate installation specifications and equipment requirements to fulfill customer orders.
  • Create or correct location records, drawings, bill of materials (BOM), installation notes, and memos reflecting modifications to customers' locations.
  • Possess familiarity with specifications and drawings required to assemble and integrate telco transmission equipment into a Central Office environment.
  • Utilize hand tools required for the installation of transmission equipment including crimpers, wire wrap guns, strippers, wrenches, hammers, drills, stencils, etc.
  • Transport tools/materials as required to the job site.
  • Act in a supervisory manner to lower-level installers regarding job progress, material shortages, customer complaints, and unsafe tools.
  • Provide self-quality checks of all portions of the job prior to sign-off.
  • Assemble, modify and install overhead ironwork, relay racks, transmission equipment, and cable ladder.
  • Run power, signal, and ground cables to interconnect equipment.
  • Cut and terminate single, multi-strand, and coax cable with power lugs, multi-pin connectors, and BNC connectors.
  • Stencil installed equipment and terminations.
  • Establish and maintain a professional rapport with customers, supervisors, and co-workers.
  • Maintain and provide accurate departmental paperwork as requested.
  • Know and follow all safety and security requirements.
