Note: benefits eligibility may be based on employment status, tenure, location, or other factors Classification: non-exempt/hourly Location: Kansas City based, traveling within Kansas, Missouri and surrounding areas as needed Schedule: Travel weekly, mostly home on the weekends Pay: Starting at $18/hr, advancing to Installer I with $2 pay increase after 90 days of employment Start Date & Training: 1/26, 1st week virtual training, 2nd week onsite training at Whitestown, IN facility (paid training, all travel and expenses paid) Job Summary: The Installer Apprentice is an entry-level role that provides on-the-job training and structured instruction (classroom, online, etc.) to develop foundational skills needed for telecommunications equipment installation in a Central Office environment. Under close supervision, the Installer Apprentice learns and performs installation, maintenance, and servicing of telecommunications equipment. Upon successful completion of the training phase, apprentices will advance to a Level I Installer role, gaining hands-on field experience while working alongside experienced mentors to handle increasingly complex tasks. Participants will receive: Paid training, including classroom instruction and hands-on practice in a simulated Central Office (CO) environment. On-the-job training under the direct supervision of an experienced Level IV Installer mentor.

Requirements

  • Completion of “Basic Installation” training course or equivalent on-the-job training.
  • Successful completion of Safety, Business Code of Conduct, Quality Assurance, and Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) training.
  • Good eye and hand coordination, manual dexterity, and precision to work well with a variety of hand tools.
  • Demonstrates meticulous attention to detail by executing installations accurately and ensuring full compliance with industry standards.
  • Aptitude and interest in technology with the ability to grasp and apply technical concepts.
  • Basic knowledge of current network products.
  • Proficiency operating computers, tablets, and MS Office software.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve technical issues.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with team members, supervisors, and other departments.
  • Track and record work hours on a timely basis using time-tracking software.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record and proof of insurance.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalency.

Responsibilities

  • Understands and follows all Telamon established safety practices and procedures.
  • Properly use and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Perform cable installation, termination, labeling, and lacing, adhering to industry standards.
  • Mount racks, frames, and shelves, ensuring all equipment is securely and correctly installed.
  • Reads and stays current on installation documentation.
  • Addition or removal of non-powered equipment/hardware.
  • Maintains quality awareness and implements quality control processes.
  • Conducts work assignments, communicates, dresses, and assists customers in a professional manner.
  • Accurately inventory all job-related material.
