About the position

The Installation Technician III is responsible for the physical installation, programming, and implementation of medium to high complexity security projects. This role requires minimal supervision and includes mentoring less experienced technicians. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills and the ability to meet project deadlines consistently.

Responsibilities

  • Perform installation and programming of medium complexity projects per scope of work documents
  • Perform installations on complex projects with support from Field Support Engineers
  • Coaching and mentoring Installation Tech I and Tech II
  • Serve as crew foreman on larger projects as needed
  • Interface with customers to resolve installation and service concerns and questions
  • Follow device I/O schedules and drawings for designs
  • Follow and/or adapt proper schematic wiring diagrams and termination procedures
  • Markup as-built drawings, system documentation and device schedules
  • Test operation of system to confirm compliance with the scope of work, 100% functionality and customer satisfaction
  • Train end users on new systems
  • Ensure that systems are installed in a time-efficient manner meeting project deadlines
  • Assist Project Managers with IT coordination, implementation, system commissioning support and final documentation as needed
  • Ensure unused materials are tracked
  • Ensure work areas are free of debris
  • Communicate job status and project issues to Operations Manager or Project Managers regularly
  • Work safely and responsibly to avoid injuries and damage to property
  • On-call responsibilities and light service calls as required
  • Overnight stay and travel while performing duties at remote job locations and job training when required

Requirements

  • Possess a valid state issued driver's license
  • Meet state qualifications for alarm licensing and electronics security personnel as required
  • Understanding of basic network troubleshooting
  • Thorough understanding of electronics, installation, and troubleshooting methods
  • Thorough understanding of field test equipment and special tools such as multimeter, cable tester, fiber kit, pneumatic knockout set, pipe threaders, conduit benders etc
  • Good understanding of electronic security technology and system design
  • Good understanding of all platforms installed and serviced by the company
  • Certification and thorough understanding of programming and installation of at least three supported manufacturers
  • Effectively use basic office software such as Bluebeam®, Connectwise, Microsoft Excel®, Microsoft Word®, and Microsoft Outlook®
  • Able to safely work at heights on ladders and aerial lifts
  • Ability to lead field crews on midsize projects and ability to lead by example and mentor newer technicians
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Ability to identify value add propositions
  • Able to lift 50 lbs.
