About The Position

The Installation Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the successful deployment and maintenance of fiber optic and cable systems across various sites. This position requires the technician to expertly install, splice, and test fiber optic cables and coaxial cables to guarantee optimal system performance. The technician will conduct site surveys and read blueprints to plan and execute installations accurately, adhering to safety and quality standards. Additionally, the role involves troubleshooting and repairing fire alarm and cable TV systems to maintain uninterrupted service. Ultimately, the Installation Technician ensures that all cabling infrastructure is installed efficiently and reliably to support the communication needs of residential, commercial, and industrial clients.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in fiber optic splicing and cable installation.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical diagrams.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for site visits.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols related to cable installation and electrical systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in fiber optic technology (e.g., FOA Certified Fiber Optic Technician).
  • Experience with fire alarm system installation and maintenance.
  • Familiarity with cable TV system setup and troubleshooting.
  • Previous experience conducting site surveys in commercial or industrial environments.
  • Basic understanding of network infrastructure and telecommunications standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform installation, splicing, and testing of fiber optic and coaxial cables according to project specifications.
  • Conduct site surveys and interpret blueprints to plan cable routes and installation methods.
  • Install and maintain cable TV and fire alarm systems, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
  • Troubleshoot and repair cable and fiber optic systems to resolve service issues promptly.
  • Collaborate with project managers and other technicians to ensure timely and quality completion of installation projects.
