The Installation/Maintenance/Repair Technician will be responsible for running performance testing on HVAC equipment, including air to water chillers, according to ASHRAE / UL standards. This role supports the HVAC Commercial Engineering team by setting up, instrumenting, and testing Client rooftop units. The technician will also fabricate and assemble testing apparatuses to support the testing and development of commercial HVAC products. Additional responsibilities include performing electrical and mechanical modifications to test units and components, accurately recording and documenting test data, calibrating test equipment, and troubleshooting units or instrumentation issues.

  • Run performance testing on HVAC equipment including air to water chillers according to ASHRAE / UL standards.
  • Fabricate and assemble testing apparatuses to support testing and development of commercial HVAC products.
  • Learn HVAC product certification standards.
  • Perform electrical and mechanical modifications to test units and components.
  • Accurately record and document test data utilizing data systems and MS Office applications.
  • Calibrate test equipment.
  • Troubleshoot units or instrumentation issues.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 3 years HVAC or maintenance experience required; additional education may be considered in place of years of experience.
  • Must have EPA refrigerant certification EPA608.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and familiarity with control systems.
  • Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with off-site engineering personnel.
  • Solid understanding of electrical diagrams and control logic.
  • Experience with basic electrical wiring (3 phase electrical experience a plus).
  • Experience working with combustible and pressurized gasses.
  • Experience with refrigeration cycles and components used within those cycles.
  • Proficiency in brazing preferred.
  • Ability to read and understand test procedures.
  • Basic skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to write clear, concise, and consistent emails.
  • Strong safety record.
  • Ability to multitask and shift priorities with very short notice.
