About The Position

Techno is seeking experienced Construction Inspectors to support the replacement of multiple structurally critical rail bridges located in coastal communities on Long Island’s South Fork. This program includes complete bridge demolition and reconstruction, full roadway approach rebuilding, drainage separation systems, ADA improvements, retaining walls, and coordination across multiple municipal jurisdictions. This is a field-forward role requiring confident oversight of structural, roadway, and railroad-adjacent construction in an active transit environment. Inspectors must be comfortable operating in a fully paperless reporting system and navigating complex staging and outage conditions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management or 9+ years of construction inspection experience
  • Strong NYSDOT roadway inspection experience including milling, widening, drainage systems, ADA compliance, curb/sidewalk, and paving
  • Experience with work adjacent to active rail corridors, preferably with familiarity with Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) operations
  • OSHA 30-Hour certification required
  • Demonstrated experience working in a paperless digital reporting environment

Nice To Haves

  • 10+ years inspecting bridge and roadway reconstruction projects preferred
  • Experience coordinating with municipalities such as East Hampton, Southampton, Sagaponack, and Suffolk County preferred
  • Environmental certifications (OSHA 40-Hr HAZWOPER, NYS DOL Asbestos Inspector, AMPP C3/C5) required for environmental coverage roles

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily inspection of bridge, structural, and roadway reconstruction activities
  • Monitor contractor compliance with plans, specifications, and approved traffic control staging
  • Oversee grading, drainage installation, ADA curb/sidewalk construction, paving, retaining walls, and structural elements
  • Document work through digital daily reports, photo logs, and redline markups
  • Coordinate with Resident Engineer and multiple local jurisdictions regarding standards and approvals
  • Inspect work adjacent to active rail operations, including outage and center-span activities
  • Verify compliance with safety requirements including excavation, crane operations, and utility coordination
  • Maintain detailed quantity tracking and installed equipment records
