About The Position

The Inspector position involves performing inspections on various fire protection systems, including Fire Sprinkler Systems, Fire Alarm Systems, and Extinguisher/Hood/Special Hazard systems. The role requires a strong understanding of applicable NFPA standards and the ability to complete all inspection-related documentation accurately. Inspectors are expected to maintain necessary licenses, perform inspections in a cost-effective manner, and ensure safety and quality control throughout their work. The position also includes mentoring lower-level technicians and supporting the inspection manager as needed.

Requirements

  • Minimum education of High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Required NICET level for their trade and applicable/current TX Dept of Insurance license.
  • Strong understanding of materials, tools equipment, and procedures used in the installation process.
  • Current and clear TX DL and clean driving record.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in Sprinkler systems.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in Alarm systems.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in Extinguisher systems.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in Hood Suppression systems.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in Special Hazard systems and must have FAL license.

Responsibilities

  • Perform duties in a cost-effective manner while inspecting structures which contain Fire Sprinkler Systems.
  • Correctly complete all Inspection related documentation.
  • Develop working knowledge of applicable NFPA and common materials and installation processes.
  • Maintain RME-I license as well as obtain and maintain TCEQ backflow licensing (B-PAT).
  • Properly perform needed sprinkler system inspections and all associated components including Wet, Dry, Fire Pumps, Pre-action, Deluge, Antifreeze Loops, backflows, etc.
  • Cross-train additional licensing duties in order to obtain multiple licenses.
  • Develop working knowledge of applicable NFPA standards for Fire Alarm Systems.
  • Perform duties in a cost-effective manner while inspecting structures which contain Fire Alarm Systems.
  • Properly perform needed alarm system inspections and all associated components.
  • Develop working knowledge of applicable NFPA standards and manufacturer installation manuals for Extinguisher/Hood/Special Hazard systems.
  • Perform duties in a cost-effective manner while inspecting structures which contain Fire Extinguishers, Hood Suppression Systems, and/or Special Hazard.
  • Lead large inspections and special projects with multiple techs or solo as a Super Tech.
  • Mentor lower level technicians during their quest for additional licenses and knowledge.
  • Ensure timely and complete submittal of JSAs, Toolbox Talks, Audit Forms, etc.
  • Ensure timely and accurate Incident and Accident Reporting.
  • Hold yourself accountable for all Safety Initiatives.
  • Ensure proper Inventory Management and Maintenance of equipment.
  • Maintain Customer Satisfaction and respond to feedback for improvement opportunities.
