As part of a collaborative team of public servants, an Inspector V protects residents’ health and safety by conducting on-site inspections and investigations in Texas long-term care facilities (licensed-only nursing homes, assisted living facilities, day activities and health services (DAHS) sites, DAHS-ISS providers, presribed pediatric extended care centers) to assess their compliance with state and federal laws and rules. In this front-line field position, the Inspector V conducts investigations of complaints and incidens as a team member or individually, including complaints related to abuse, neglect or exploitation. The surveyor is mobile and flexible and performs minimal work at an office, though the role does require writing reports detailing any deficiencies/violations against a facility, remedies to correct those deficiencies, and a narrative to support regulatory determinations. The surveyor is also responsible for preparing written reports supporting the actions and remedies recommended and participating in surveys, inspections, and investigations with assigned team and accepts assignments as needed. The ideal candidate will thrive in an environment that emphasizes: innovation through new ideas, striving for excellence by taking pride in their work, leading by example, and learning for continuous improvement. This position offers a competitive starting salary; excellent state benefits, including health insurance and retirement; and the opportunity to regularly travel to different facilities within a region.
