About The Position

Job Summary Applies advanced technical skills and knowledge to perform receiving, in-process and final inspections of aircraft components, parts and component operating systems to ensure the products meet company, customer and Federal Aviation Administration specifications and standards. Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities Performs in-process and final inspection and functional testing tasks that are moderate to complex requiring experience and judgment to complete. Works under limited supervision and determines plans and actions from standard procedural alternatives. Inspects parts and materials for conformity to standards, specifications and processing requirements. Inspects for proper identity and dimensions using such measuring devices as micrometers, gauges, calipers and Jo-blocks. Verifies specifications using purchase orders, blueprints, drawing or inspection instructions and checklists. Performs in-process and final inspection and functional test operations of aerospace components and otherwise tests and inspects products, processes, parts and operating systems to ensure the end item meets or exceeds specifications. Examines assembly, installation, and adjustment of the parts and components of aircraft interior components and the interior component operating systems to ensure that workmanship and materials conform to FAA regulations, company specifications, and manual procedures. Determines dimensional accuracy of installation of components using non-precision and precision measuring instruments to ensure that specified tolerances are met. Signs inspection records to approve unit, or records reasons for rejecting unit. Performs other duties as required. These duties may include assignments in job classifications and departments other than the primary assignment.

Requirements

  • Minimum High School or GED.
  • 4 year(s) Inspection experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment directly related to the discipline where the inspection assignments will occur.
  • Working knowledge of AS9100 and ISO9001 Quality Systems.
  • Ability to communicate both written and orally with departmental and production supervision.
  • Works with departmental and production supervision on schedule, departmental job assignments and prioritizing workload.
  • Ability to perform all inspection functions within the department with minimal supervision.
  • Experience and ability to work with both metric and standard measuring systems using both non-precision and precision measuring tools.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft programs (Work, Excel and Access)
  • Read, write and speak English to read and interpret manufacturer’s specifications and manuals.
  • A good understanding of composite materials, wood veneers, laminates and finishes.
  • Ability to understand first angle projection drawings.
  • At least 18 months of practical experience in the procedures, practices, inspection methods, materials, tools, machine tools, and equipment generally used in the maintenance duties of the specific job for which the person is to be employed and certified; or
  • Completed formal training that is acceptable to the Administrator and is specifically designed to qualify the applicant for the job on which the applicant is to be employed.
  • Vision and Audio Test per 14 CFR Part 145.155 (and C.A.S.E.1-A Standard Section 5.E.2.C.).
  • Must be able to work in excess of eight (8) hours per day and five (5) days per week, if required.
  • Additionally, those who work at NORDAM Repair Division must be able to ascend and descend stairs.
