About The Position

The Inspector position involves inspecting aircraft and components for discrepancies using various NDT disciplines. The role requires evaluating work performed by mechanics, sheet metal mechanics, and avionics technicians to ensure proper rework of discrepancies. The inspector will review inspection requirements, conduct visual and NDT inspections, ensure compliance with maintenance manuals and FAA regulations, and perform weight and balance analyses. The position requires travel and adherence to safety procedures during aircraft handling activities.

Requirements

  • Hold an airframe and powerplant certificate.
  • Have at least 2 years of experience maintaining the same category and class of aircraft used by Kalitta Air.
  • Must have adequate documented training to substantiate qualifications.
  • NDT experience preferred, but not necessary.
  • High school graduate; some college and/or technical school desirable.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to read, write and understand spoken and written English.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical operations.

Responsibilities

  • Review the scope and detail of inspection requirements and inspect aircraft and components by obtaining and interpreting work cards.
  • Complete a visual inspection and/or NDT inspection of aircraft areas opened by mechanics.
  • Identify non-routine work on aircraft systems and locate discrepancies using fuselage body stations and butt lines.
  • Interpret and ensure compliance with maintenance manual instructions, airworthiness directives, service bulletins, and fleet campaign directives.
  • Ensure safety procedures are followed during aircraft handling activities.
  • Perform a receiving inspection for new and continued service parts to ensure serviceability.
  • Conduct a weight and balance analysis using approved maintenance manuals and scales.
  • Ensure completion of logbook entries and release the aircraft as airworthy for test flight or flight operation checks.
  • Perform visual and dimensional inspections of articles and determine serviceability and/or repair requirements.
  • Ensure proper rework of discrepancies by inspecting and evaluating work performed by shop mechanics/technicians.
  • Ensure completion of maintenance entries and work records for all articles inspected.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Inspection Supervisor or Senior Inspector.
  • Willingness to travel.
