About The Position

Inspect machined parts, assemblies, castings, forgings, tooling, parts and assemblies. Essential Functions: Read and interpret information from planning documents, tool design and engineering drawings, loft lines, inspections, quality assurance manuals, inspection procedures and schematic diagrams to plan the methods and procedures for the inspection of conformance to design and manufacturing requirements in support of machining operations, receiving and source inspection. Set up and use jig transits, optical, electro-optical and light emitting sensing devices, sine and surface plates, height and radius gauges, comparators, check fixtures, hand tools, coordinate measuring machines and precision measuring instruments. Inspect tooling as required to control the dimensional accuracy of major assembly jigs, tool masters, progressive form dies, wood and metal patterns and machine tools. Perform mathematical calculations using shop mathematics and trigonometry to determine angular and linear dimensions. Perform simple and progressive layout operations on parts, assemblies, castings and forgings, including those where projection and visualization of three dimensional flat views is required. Determine machine-ability of part and the availability of material for further machining. Check machine setup for first run or developmental parts and as needed setup thread comparator machine. Inspect parts involving precision tolerance dimensions, coordinated dimensions, irregular surfaces requiring coordination, compound and reverse contours. In support of source and receiving inspection operations perform inspection of machined parts, simple and complex mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, assemblies, units and materials. Record, maintain or verify parts receivable, manufacturing information and test data manually or with the aid of a computer or computer-based system. Stamp off or otherwise approve as acceptable or reject.
